SOP-PROT-013
REV 2.1
HIDDEN GUARDIANS PROTECTION
THE INVISIBLE RISK
Hidden components like the nose cone, snifter valves, and internal relief channels prevent catastrophic failure but are often ignored due to access difficulty.
NOSE CONE
Manages turbulence at draft tube exit. Loose bolts cause vib-fatigue.
SNIFTER VALVE
Prevents vacuum collapse during load rejection. Stiction = head cover failure.
SILT DRAINS
Removes heavy sediment from spiral casing. Silt = efficiency loss.
PROTOCOL: VACUUM BREAKER
FUNCTIONAL TEST (ANNUAL)
- Manual Actuation: Disc must move freely by hand.
- Seating: Disc must drop with audible "clunk".
- Airtightness: No hissing during pressurized standby.
