MECHANICAL PRECISION & ALIGNMENT

THE TROPICAL FOUNDATION RISK

0.01mm

In humid environments, concrete absorbs moisture and undergoes thermal cycles. This causes "Micro-Movements" where a unit aligned in January may be 0.15mm off by July.

THE 6-MONTH RULE

Mandatory laser alignment verification every 180 days. Do not assume any foundation is static.

LABYRINTH CLEARANCE PROTOCOL

PREPARATION & ACCESS

  • Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) unit; drain entire spiral case.
  • Mark 8 points clockwise (Top, Bottom, L, R, diagonals).
  • Use Feeler Gauges (0.05mm - 1.00mm) for 'Snug Fit'.

DEVIATION LIMITS

  • Uniformity Tolerance: < 10% variance
  • Minimum Safe Gap: 0.20 mm
  • Seizure Danger: < 0.15 mm

SHAFT RUN-OUT (TIR) CHECK

METHODOLOGY

  1. Polish shaft section near bearing journal (remove rust/oil).
  2. Mount Magnetic DTI Base on a fixed, non-vibrating housing.
  3. Pre-load indicator plunger by 2.00mm; Zero the bezel.
  4. Rotate shaft manually at slow constant speed.

TOTAL INDICATOR READING

PASS LIMIT: ≤ 0.05 mm

Any systematic 'wobble' beyond this indicates a bent shaft or coupling misalignment.
