About Kaplan Turbines

Kaplan turbines are axial flow reaction turbines with adjustable runner blades, designed for low head applications (2-40 meters). The unique double regulation system allows both guide vanes and runner blades to adjust, providing excellent efficiency across a wide range of flow conditions.

Note: This knowledge base is currently under development. Comprehensive SOPs for Kaplan turbines including blade pitch control, double regulation systems, and axial thrust management will be added soon.

Planned Documentation Modules

Blade Pitch Control

Hydraulic servomotor systems, pitch angle optimization, and synchronization procedures

Double Regulation System

Coordinated control of guide vanes and runner blades for optimal efficiency

Axial Thrust Management

Thrust bearing maintenance, balance piston systems, and load monitoring

Low Head Optimization

Draft tube design, cavitation prevention, and efficiency curves
